Growing Pains & Spring

This is a long overdue post. My eyes are bloodshot and I’m pretty sure I’m seriously iron-deficient. I’m sleepy and hungry even after ransacking the pantry and having seconds for dinner.

But this is what I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. I’m still not satisfied with it but I’m pretty sure I’ve long passed the time limit most artists would set on a piece like this. It’s been reworked and revisited to the point of exhaustion and I don’t think I’ve got much else to give here.

Blood, September  2017

I pushed myself way outside of my comfort zone when it came to the painting process. It meant I was often pissed off at how badly I was executing it 50% of the time. It’s really the only way to grow though, I know.

I wish I had more time to break down my art sessions to a couple of days per week. But at the moment, it’s just been a matter of squeezing in as much painting as I can in the weekend.

The aim of the game is to build up a portfolio with stronger pieces that illustrate the type of content that I really want to be hired for in the future.

In the meantime, it’s just growing pains and spring, I guess. For those in doubt, I live in the Southern Hemisphere.

Valentine’s Special

Happy Valentine’s Day to you. Not everyone is a fan, and not everyone cares. But I’ve been playing around with love-related themes this month. And I’m happy that I have my first completed piece for 2017.

It’s a little different to my usual pieces – perhaps a little more graphic but it originally started with a hand-drawn sketch.

Anyway, I’d love to hear what you think of this latest one. Feel free to comment below. To stay more up to date with my content, follow my Instagram.

You’re My Universe – WIP

It was a mad week in the office, in an understaffed-overworked kind of way. But I had some pretty cute ideas for my art. My favourite is “You’re My Universe”. My boyfriend told me he liked the concept so I’m a little proud of it. I’m thinking this could be a great piece to develop, maybe even for Valentine’s Day. What do you guys think?

If you haven’t already seen my Art Goals post, I made it a goal to work on some art every day this year. And so far, I’ve kept to it. Follow me on Instagram for more regular updates.
